Do I have to put my name on the claim?
No. All of your details are optional, and anything left blank is left off the claim, the PDF and the Word copy. Unless you tick "Remember these details", they aren't kept on the computer either.
What's the difference between meal and subsistence allowance?
Both are daily amounts set in the rate schedule for your destination's country group. They are worked out separately because the claim lists them separately. Airfare, accommodation and other travel costs are not included here.
Which days should I count?
Add every day you are away on official business, including the days you travel. Each day should appear under one country only; the app warns you if a day is under two. If you aren't sure where a travel day belongs, check the rates circular or ask the Training Division.
My country isn't in the list.
Choose the "other" option in the right group: "Other Commonwealth Caribbean country", "Central America", "South America", "Europe (other)", "Africa", "Asia", "Pacific" or "Other". Open "Rates used in this calculation" at the bottom of the page to see which places each group covers.
Which exchange rate should I use?
Countries paid in EC$ need no conversion. For US$ the schedule's rate fills in for you. For GBP, the Bank of Saint Lucia's non-cash selling rate fills in for you and is updated each working day; the date is shown under the box. If you've been told to use a different rate, type it in instead.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser, and the page is set up so the browser blocks it from sending data anywhere. Nothing is stored online.
Can I use it without the internet?
Yes. Use Save this app for offline use at the bottom of the page. You get a single file you can open any time, or share by email or WhatsApp.
